Day 14

When the gin is gone, the gift lives on... today we explore the spirit of Norfolk...

Norfolk Gin was first created in 2014 by Jonathan and Alison, who were looking for a new adventure, so began making gin from their kitchen in Norwich. After 18 months of development and much fun taste testing with willing volunteers, they finally settled on recipe 55.

Recently rated as a 5-star Gin by Joanna Simon, the highly respected wine writer; she includes Norfolk Gin in the very best gins for Christmas. The gin is naturally Juniper led – ‘a Ginny gin’ - with herbaceous and floral notes, carefully balanced with a touch of spice, a hint of sweetness and fragrant citrus.

As well as tasting delicious, Norfolk Gin looks beautiful in its distinctive handcrafted British porcelain bottle, made by Wade Ceramics in Stoke on Trent. Enjoy! And, when the gin is gone, the bottle can be re-used or re-filled locally. Just too beautiful to throw away!

With just 24 bottles in a batch, Norfolk Gin is still made by hand in their Norwich gin studio. Now approaching their 6th Christmas, the couple have produced 30,000 large and 7,500 small bottles in a small space of 2m by 4m. This November they produced their 1,000,000 tot of Norfolk Gin. Next Spring, they will be organising a treasure hunt around the beautiful county of Norfolk, so you can get your hands on it.

"We are so pleased to have started a business in Norfolk, there is a strong network of producers who help each other and a huge number of independent businesses that champion local produce and support fellow small and family businesses."
