The Studio is Heating Up
The building itself had old storage heaters downstairs that provided inadequate heating with little control. With no external grounds, boiler or mains gas connection the heating options were limited. In addition, the hot water system was dated and the large sash windows were very draughty.
The helpful people at REV ACTIVE provided free and impartial advice and identified several cost and carbon saving opportunities via an environmental assessment of the building. This provided us with a range of possible solutions and a clear case for investment with costs, pay backs and clearly defined benefits.
Even better than the expert advice we were then able to access a REV ACTIVE grant that helped with the costs of the changes. We now installed futuristic infrared heating with wireless controls throughout the downstairs of the premises and digital timers on the hot water tanks. These have been in place two months and have already halved our electricity bills. We are currently part way through having the sash windows refurbished and can’t wait to say good bye to those pesky draughts.
These larger projects combined with smaller initiatives such as double sided printing, low energy lighting, waste recycling are all steps towards Naked doing our bit for the environment.
